What we do

Heating, cooling, and appliance service under one roof

Whether your AC quit in the middle of a heat wave or you're planning a full system replacement, we handle it from the first call to the final test. Here's how we can help.

Why we're called HUG

Your home should feel like a hug, whatever the weather is doing outside

Sacramento summers are no joke. A string of triple-digit days can push even a good air conditioner to its limit, and the winter fog brings cold, damp mornings that make a furnace earn its keep. When your system stops working, it's more than an inconvenience. It's your family's comfort, your sleep, and sometimes your health.

That's why we named the company HUG. We want every visit to leave you feeling looked after: a technician who listens, explains your options without pressure, protects your floors, and leaves your home cooler, warmer, or simply better than they found it.

We're based in Elk Grove and we work across Sacramento. The people we serve are our neighbors, and we'd like to keep it that way for a long time.

  4. Fixed, tested, cleaned up

We complete the work, test it, walk you through it, and leave your home as clean as we found it.

Repair or replace?

An honest answer to the most common question we get

Most HVAC systems in our area last somewhere between 12 and 18 years. Long, hot summers wear them down faster than in milder climates. A breakdown doesn't automatically mean you need a new system, but at some point, putting money into an old unit stops making sense.

Here's the rule of thumb we share with customers: if your system is over 12 years old and the repair costs more than about a third of a new system, or you've had several repairs in the past couple of years, it's worth at least looking at replacement. Older systems that still use R-22 refrigerant are especially expensive to recharge.

Either way, the decision is yours. We'll give you a repair price and, if it makes sense, a replacement option side by side, and we'll tell you which one we'd choose for our own home.

Signs it may be time to replace

  • Your system is 12-15+ years old
  • Repairs two or more years in a row
  • It still uses R-22 (Freon)
  • SMUD bills keep climbing

Good questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you service both Elk Grove and Sacramento?

Yes. Our shop is in Elk Grove, and we cover all of Elk Grove and the city of Sacramento, plus nearby communities like Florin, Vineyard, Rancho Cordova, Galt, and Wilton. If you're not sure we reach you, just call and ask.

Do you work on homes and businesses?

Both. Most of our work is in homes, but we also look after offices, retail stores, restaurants, and other light commercial buildings, including rooftop package units and split systems.

Will you tell me the price before you start?

Always. Your technician diagnoses the problem, explains what they found, and gives you a firm price. Nothing happens until you say yes.

Should I repair my old AC or replace it?

It depends on the age of the system, what's wrong with it, and how much you're putting into it each year. We'll give you an honest repair price and, if it makes sense, a replacement option so you can compare. Plenty of systems are worth repairing, and we'll tell you when yours is one of them.

Do you offer financing on new systems?

Yes. We offer financing options on approved credit so you can replace a failing system now and pay over time. See our financing page or ask your comfort advisor.

Do you really fix appliances too?

We do. Along with heating and cooling, we repair refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, and cooktops. It's handy for customers who'd rather call one company they already trust.
