One trusted company for comfort and appliances

Refrigerators and air conditioners have a lot in common: compressors, refrigerant, fans, and controls. So it's a natural fit for an HVAC company to fix appliances too. Our customers like having one company they already trust for both.

We diagnose the real problem, explain whether it's worth repairing, and give you a firm price first. If an appliance is at the end of the road, we'll tell you so you don't throw good money after bad.

Appliances we repair

Refrigerators & freezers

Not cooling, frost buildup, leaking water, noisy fans, ice makers and dispensers that quit, and doors that won't seal.

Washing machines

Won't drain, won't spin, leaks, loud banging, error codes, and door locks on front-loaders.

Dryers (gas & electric)

No heat, long drying times, squeaking or thumping, won't start, and overheating. We check the vent too.

Dishwashers

Not cleaning, not draining, leaking onto the floor, won't start, or dishes coming out wet.

Ovens & ranges

Oven won't heat or heats unevenly, burners won't light, igniters clicking, and faulty temperature controls.

Cooktops & built-in microwaves

Electric, gas, and glass-top cooktops, plus over-the-range and built-in microwaves.

Repair or replace?

A good rule of thumb: if the repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new appliance, and the appliance is near the end of its typical life, replacement usually makes more sense. Typical lifespans are roughly 10 to 15 years for refrigerators, washers, and dryers, around 10 years for dishwashers, and 15 years or more for ranges. We'll always give you our honest take.

Gas appliance safety: If you smell gas near a range, oven, or dryer, don't operate it or any switches. Leave the home and call PG&E or 911 from outside.

Appliance repair questions

Which appliances do you repair?

Refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, washing machines, dryers (gas and electric), dishwashers, ovens, ranges, cooktops, and built-in microwaves. If you have something else, call and ask.

Is it worth repairing an older appliance?

Often, yes. Many common failures, like a dryer heating element, a washer drain pump, or a refrigerator defrost part, are affordable repairs that add years of use. If a repair would cost close to the price of a new appliance, we'll tell you.

Do you repair gas dryers and gas ranges?

Yes. We repair gas dryers, ranges, ovens, and cooktops, and we check gas connections for leaks as part of the job.

My refrigerator stopped cooling but the light is on. What should I do?

First, make sure the vents inside aren't blocked by food and that the condenser coils (usually behind or under the fridge) aren't caked with dust. If it's still warm after a couple of hours, call us. Move perishables to a cooler with ice in the meantime.

How do I prevent dryer fires?

Clean the lint screen after every load, have the dryer vent duct cleaned regularly, and replace plastic or foil vent hoses with rigid or semi-rigid metal. If drying times are getting longer, the vent is likely clogged.

Too hot, too cold, or just not right?

Call HUG Heat & Air. A real person will answer, and we'll get someone out to take care of it.
